FORD Puma ST - a chic family SUV

After Ford made the standard version of its little Puma crossover quite sporty, engineers couldn't resist lifting this top ST version with the livelier 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbo engine from the cradle of developers.

For Ford, 'ST' is an impressive badge. But does it belong to an SUV? Well it goes with this. The Puma ST was always developed with this fast variant in mind. In the ST form, the Ford Performance team has again thoroughly developed the already very impressive driving dynamics.

The FORD Puma ST is not only faster than the standard model. Thanks to a whole series of handling and suspension changes, FORD engineers were able to improve the performance even further. Sounds pretty good so far. Small SUVs were previously not known to be very easy to drive. How does the new Ford behave on the road?

It's just fun to drive this car. This ST variant is built on a solid foundation; the handling of the Fiesta-based standard model has already been praised. Under the bonnet is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol engine with 200 hp from the Fiesta ST, which accelerates to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds. An optimized chassis has bespoke twist beam, stabilizer and damper configurations. The steering response is 25% faster and the brakes are 17% bigger than the standard Puma. Specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires also offer the most agile driving experience for Ford SUVs to date. The 50% stiffened rear suspension and thick stabilizers at the front and rear contribute to stability when cornering. If you want to get even more out of tight corners, you can order an optional (chargeable) service package with an additional limited slip differential. This works in conjunction with the torque vectoring system that is standard on all models and reduces understeer at speed through tight corners.

What else? Like the normal model, the ST version also has selectable driving modes, including a "Sport" setting, a special "Track" option and - for the first time in a Ford Performance model - an "Eco" mode that enables the Offers drivers options for a wide range of different road driving scenarios. The active exhaust valve technology also enhances the naturally sporty three-cylinder engine sound.
